There are times when it seems that the YouTube feed algorithm is providentially guided. In this case, a video from an Australian Baptist preacher by the name of Dr. Gene Kim came up where he is teaching on Nephilim.
Prelude
The image above gives you an overview of what lays just ahead. This article will cover some of the events leading up to, during, and after. The ultimate outcome to the far right after the final judgment is the New Heaven and New Earth where dark forces are forever gone along with the wicked. Only the righteous in Christ by faith remain with God, Jesus the Son, the Spirit, and the other heavenly hosts!
Starting out
The interesting part of his teaching is that he appears to have largely landed on his feet using only the King James Version of the bible as his source. As I scan the transcript of the video, I do not detect any attribution other than the KJV. If true, then it blows a hole wide open in the theory that we could not have such understanding and insight without the Dead Sea Scroll data and ancient near eastern Mesopotamian data. Regardless—some of the points he makes are fascinating and very useful and helpful! Allow me to demonstrate.
NOTE: If you are familiar with Dr. Michael S. Heiser's work, such as Unseen Realm and Reversing Hermon, then a lot of what he is teaching on will not be new to you. Indeed, many commenting on this teaching video point Dr. Kim to Dr. Heiser as a resource. So, if he was not aware of Dr. Heiser before, he ought to be now, for sure. A the time of this writing there are more than 3,800 comments on the video. It has been around about 6 months.
Jude 7
At about the 7-minute mark, Dr. Kim takes his congregation to Jude 7, which reads:
My instinct is to immediately test the KJV translator to see how well the English communicates the Greek with regard to the term "strange flesh". As you can see—he is spot on.
It is here that Dr. Kim takes (for me) an unexpected turn. He mentions the hermeneutical tool—let bible interpret bible—and proceeds along that trajectory, focusing on heteras or strange.
His question is straight forward: Are there other places where scripture helps us by defining what strange or other flesh is? Dr. Kim points to 1 Corinthians 15.
First—I will quote for you what Dr. Kim states about this point.
Dr. Kim goes on to make a straight-forward claim: The Nephilim and giants were deeply practicing violent bestialities that resulted in so-called mythical creatures that were hybrids of divine beings, human beings, and animals of all kinds (see 1 Cor 15 above). Below is an answer from ChatGPT 3.5 on a question of scholarly work linking Nephilim and giants to this violent and seditious practice:
1. According to A.W. Sjöberg, a bible scholar and Assyriologist specializing in Mesopotamian mythology and religion, the Nephilim are mentioned in Jewish Second Temple era writings and Mesopotamian texts such as Gilgamesh, Atraḫhasis, and Enūma Eliš, that point to an association between Nephilim and beastiality. He argues that the Babylonian gods Sin and Lamashtu may have been regarded as manifestations of Nephilim that engaged in bestiality.
2. Bible and Near East scholar and professor Rutter Brown's analysis of both Jewish Second Temple era and Mesopotamian texts argue that the Nephilim were part human and part divine and they were believed to have "committed acts of bestiality" with mythical creatures such as lamassu, mermaids and sphinxes in order to gain supernatural powers, such as immortality.
3. Professor John Hartnett, a biblical and near eastern archaeologist, posits that the Nephilim may have practiced bestiality in an attempt to gain power and knowledge from their encounters with the divine animals. He notes that Mesopotamian literature, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, suggest that bestiality was widely practiced by the Nephilim, and was conducted for illicit purposes, such as the satisfying of lewd urges or the manipulation of divine forces.
Such responses from an AI like ChatGPT 3.5 are not to be trusted outright. Therefore, we can use the same tool (or another like it, such as Bing ChatGPT 4) to evaluate the assertions made. In this case we find that the assertions are mostly true, but with a repeated warning: Not all scholars agree with the linkage and the scope of what the Nephilim did. That is understandable and expected. No one ought to expect scholars or people to be in lock-step agreement. There are far too many unknowns and blind alleys.
An outlier point made by Dr. Kim is this: Not only did God wipe out all living things on the earth in the Flood of Noah's time, but He had several reasons and targets in mind. Both of these reasons and targets revolve around the initial incursion of the sons of God to the daughters of men. Yet, it is the actions of their hybrid bastard children that gives rise to reasons, targets, and actions of destruction.
We know the first reason and target very well: Human beings who were physically, mentally, and spiritually corrupted by both the fallen Watchers and their offspring Nephilim. This goes with the territory. It is the second reason and target that is a little surprising, but makes good coherent sense: The corrupted animal kingdom!
The Nephilim did not stop their violence at the borders of humanity and human biology. The continued beyond in their lewd lusts after the animal kingdom—creating horrid monsters along the way that were a plague upon God's very good creation. I cannot even begin to image the wrath of God against these bastard Nephilim and giants. What's more, Dr. Kim rightfully notes that some of these creatures ended up in the underworld where they will be released upon the earth just before Jesus returns—but—we will get to that!
Therefore—the end of this point and of Jude 7 and 1 Corinthians 15:38-39 can be summarized as: The Nephilim not only did violence against humanity, but against the earth and against the animals of the earth, and potentially animals of the heavenly realms as well. All of this is supported by the Enochian sins of the Watchers story where both humanity and the earth cry out to God for relief and vengeance.
Interlude
After leaving off from Jude, Sodom, and Genesis 6, Dr. Kim makes precisely the same point about common modern Christians that Dr. Heiser did—namely—Christians are generally selectively supernatural. Dr. Kim uses a lot of words to say this, whereas Dr. Heiser puts it succinctly and powerfully into a single term.
Furthermore—Dr. Kim also highlights what many of us already know: The world and the history of each part of the world is replete with a matching and parallel matrix of ideas that all tell the same story. What Dr. Kim fails to connect up that many of us already know is that only the Jews create the anti-story polemic that identifies these creatures and wicked and evil, where the rest of the world claims they are largely good and righteous.
Doesn't know what he doesn't
As I listened to the teaching, Dr. Kim started talking about Genesis 11 and Deuteronomy 2 (not 32). As he presented his teaching it became more and more clear that as a recipient of Dr. Heiser's work, that this man was unaware of some critical points. This is not to said to be critical or demeaning of Dr. Kim. I only mention it by way of example: Most Christians do not know what we know, even with a careful and brilliant study of the KJV on this topic.
What did he not know? He talked about the division of nations, but without the clear understanding of the Divine Council and the divorcing or disinheriting of the nations to lesser elohim and their subsequent (and quick) fall into rebellion against God. The lack of mentioning this was very stark to me as I listened and hoped for a hint, but it never surfaced. Nevertheless—I am still impressed with the brilliance of this teaching given the sole potential source of just the KJV.
God's precursor work
The book, The Unseen Realm has a lot to say about Deuteronomy 2 and for the same reasons as presented in this teaching by Dr. Kim—namely—it clearly establishes the evidence of giant Nephilim returning after the flood (by whatever means). What Dr. Kim does not mention is the Genesis 6:4 statement of "and afterward". And because he is not a Hebrew scholar, he also misses the "whenever" instead of "when" in the same passage.
Nevertheless—Dr. Kim is going to make some salient points.
The inclusion of Deuteronomy 2 and Genesis 11 is straight forward: Dr. Kim is drawing upon all these storylines and imagery from scripture to point at the present state of this world as it relates to what he calls integration—that is—mixing DNA—divine, fallen, giant, Nephilim, human, and animal and then normalizing it as good. Moreover—he is hinting that this is the source and basis for calling evil good and good as evil.
Isaiah 5:20 in the Old Testament: "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!" It is also quoted in Romans 12:9 and 2 Corinthians 11:15 in the New Testament.
Specifically, Dr. Kim hints at transgenderism and gender fluidity as a launching pad for a complete breakdown of sexual morality leading to a world of do-as-you-want and follow-your-lusts-wherever-they-lead! This is a very powerful point. Very soon, Dr. Kim will be linking this to the end times just before the return of Jesus to earth from both the books of Matthew and Daniel.
Women in danger
In this section I am going to quickly weave together three facets as we view the same diamond. Each dovetail together and expand the same thought. What thought? Women are both the original target of this evil and remain to this day with a bullseye painted on their backs by demons.
NOTE: This ought utterly anger you men that violence has been done against those whom you dearly love and work to protect!
First—it is Dr. Heiser who points this reality out from scriptures like 1 Corinthians 11:2-16. To make the point quickly, Dr. Heiser notes that in the first century, (so-called) "medical science" believed that a woman's hair was a part of her sexual genitals (or function). Because people believed this and because fallen lust-filled angelic beings were drawn to women to harass them, Paul taught them to do everything to minimize women as a target. Therefore, he had them cover their heads while in church worshiping God.
NOTE: This applies to every place in the New Testament where women are encouraged to be subject to men and husbands. It is not because you were (or are) held as less than men. It is because out of these histories we understand that you are targeted by hellish forces out of raw selfish lust. You have been objectified by fallen Watchers first and demon Nephilim second!
Second—it is my personal view that the first woman with a target on her back was Eve. The Nachash (deceiving deceiver) targeted Eve because of his own lust and not because she was weaker or less than Adam. In fact, she was Adam's equal in every way, except she was female and Adam was male (obviously). We learn from 1 Enoch 69:7 that Gadreel is not only one of the fallen divine Watchers of Genesis 6:1-4, but he is specifically the one who tempted Eve. The dovetail is demonic lust after sex that they were forbidden by God to go after.
Third—and finally—Dr. Kim adds to this pile by pointing out that common practice of ancient ziggurats was a virgin at the top as an enticement to the gods to come from their unseen realm into this realm. It was also a meeting place for Nephilim giants to also meet with their parent/grandparent spirit beings. In the end—the entire picture is of women as bait and lures where fallen spirit beings and embodied giants are targeting them in lewd lust.
NOTE: A deep takeaway on all of this is just how deep this lustful sexual deviance rabbit hole goes. It is the core of the issue of the fallen sons of God and their bastard offspring in the epic scriptural story. Is it any wonder that as the pagan gods and demons return to this world before Jesus comes that sexual deviance is the core weapon being used against humanity? Finally—the love of money is certainly the root of all evil for human beings, but sexual depravity and deviance in the extreme is the root of all evil for fallen divine beings and their bastard offspring!
Retreat of the Nephilim
Dr. Kim wonderfully points out that the Nephilim are becoming a nearly extinct issue by the time we get to David. It is during David's time that the last of big clan of giants like Goliath and his brothers are finally dealt with. However, they seem to linger, which presents another track of research, leading us to more modern times (e.g., north American red-haired giants of the 1600's and 1700's and beyond).
Of course—this is not where the story ends. It is not that Nephilim are now diminished and at the point of no return. On the contrary, the story is just heating up as we move through 2023 and beyond. It is notable here to point out (not Dr. Kim) that the ancient Qumran Jewish calendar places us squarely at the start of the last and final Jubilee (50 years) of human history, which (to the Essenes) is the last days just before Messiah returns. Therefore—we have to leave off from the past and now talk about the future.
Return of the Nephilim
What we all really and truly need to fundamentally understand about the days of Noah are just how violent and evil those days were because of the fallen Watchers and the Nephilim giants. Women were targeted. Human beings were used and violently abused—sexually and in every way. Animals were likewise violently abused as was the earth in general.
There is a good sidebar note to make here with regard to Jesus calling Himself son of man. The stark linkage is to Daniel 7, where the son of man is received by the Ancient of Days (God, the Father) and given an everlasting Kingdom. The ascension of Jesus on the clouds and the forthtelling of His likewise return should deeply telegraph to us the importance of understanding this future story and it glorious ancient near eastern as well as Second Temple era context.
Dr. Kim now blends in references to Daniel 2 and Revelation chapter 12. Let's read the Daniel 2 reference quickly and chew on it.
The feet of iron and clay is an earthly empire that arises just before Jesus (son of Man) returns on the clouds. You can see this return in verse 35 above. Yet, what is the mixing of iron and clay? What does it stand for in the context of what Dr. Kim is teaching and the context of Dr. Heiser's work and this article?
REMEMBER: Anything that is strange and weird is most likely important. In this, it is critically important and a stunning observation!
Dr. Kim asks the most potent and obvious question at this point (@36:38): Who is they?? Indeed! Who are they? They are the returning gods, goddesses, and demon spirits awaiting their time to re-establish their final kingdom and unclean (mixed) kind over humanity for the final battle with God as Jesus Christ returns to the earth!
Once more—NOTICE (behold)—the clay is all humanity. The they in the sentence are beings that are not human. They are other-than-human. What does that leave? In modern vernacular—aliens but not "aliens". There is no such thing in the sci-fi sense. There is no Federation and Star Trek. Star Wars is a demon eye-wash lie. It is a cover story designed lure and bait human beings into accepting what they see through the filtered lens of a 100 year long story line of science fiction and Men in Black.
On the brink
To cap off this article, the final point of Dr. Kim to examine is the present time. One might be able to sum up modern 2023 world society as being fixated on aliens and the expansion and protection of sexual deviancy—using the powers of both media and governments around the world to promote and punish non-believers in what they are selling.
Anyone paying attention can see the growth of the sexual deviance cancer that is consuming nations around the world. Very few are standing firmly against it and even if they do, they have other demonic deviances of false religions (think Islam and others). Those who are unwittingly victimized in the matter are gloating, mocking, laughing, and deepening the deviances, pushing boundaries to extremes. BUT WAIT—the most extreme boundaries are still coming!
As for aliens—we now have government people coming out as so-called whistle-blowers making exotic claims of the US government having multitudes of spacecraft (so-called) and bodies and—perhaps—living specimen hidden away in secretive bunkers and buildings around the fruited plains. Decades of media, movies, books, songs, and other materials have primed an entire generation to not only accept such notions, but to welcome them with open arms.
What's a Christian to do?
Your first step is to realize how strongly you have been duped. While ancient people and early Christians may not have known about aliens, sci-fi, spaceships, and such things—they did know about fallen Watchers, sons of God, Nephilim, giants, and the evils that lurked in the shadows of the unseen realms.
We presently stand on the brink of the final Jubilee cycle (50 years). A number of interpretations of the original Jewish calendar help us to frame the start of this time anywhere from this year (2023) to about 2025. Some go out as far as 2030. However, given all that is happening and how it is accelerating in just these last few years—I am highly inclined to be looking for the removal of the church and the start of this final Iron-Clay empire sometime over the next seven years.
Again—I am not here to tell you what to believe or to think. What I am here to do is to inform and intrigue. What you do with the information is up to you. Whatever you do—I hope that what is presented will increase your faith and cause you to look soberly for the Lord's very soon return and coming. Once in eternity none of us will regret what we have done in loyalty towards the Lord Jesus Christ, our wonderful and loving Savior and King!
